Counseling that gets results

Counseling requires time, energy, and money and you expect results. So do I. After 20 years of experience as a counselor, I have the experience to get those results. My style of therapy is practical and intended to promote change by the quickest possible methods. We will work together to identify your goals and craft a plan that fits your preferences, needs, and budget. I use the latest research to guide my recommendations to ensure the best possible outcome for you.

Here are some goals I can help you achieve:

  • Explore gender expression and identity
  • Provide assessment and letters for gender affirming hormones and surgery
  • Explore lesbian, gay, and bisexual issues
  • Express your true self fully
  • Create a plan for your future
  • Live life to the fullest
  • Reduce depression and anxiety
  • Get more done each day
  • Sleep better
  • Exercise more
  • Have a better sex life

During your first appointment we will work together to find the root of your concern and create an overview of your current situation. Before our second session you will use that overview to come up with a vision of where you would rather be. Then we will develop specific goals and match them with concrete ways to get there.

Scientifically proven psychotherapy skills I have:

  • Cognitive Therapy: I will guide you through a process that shows how your thinking affects your emotions and behavior. We will then work together to develop ways of thinking that lead you toward your goals.
  • Behavior Therapy: I will assist you in finding behaviors that are holding you back and replace those with ones that increase your chances of success. These first two therapies are often combined.
  • Interpersonal Therapy: We will explore the way you interact with important people in your life and find patterns that are not serving you. We will also identify and practice interaction patterns that will allow you to have more fulfilling relationships.
  • Motivational Enhancement: This therapy helps increase motivation and remove emotional barriers. If you’re feeling stuck and know what you need to do but can’t seem to actually do it, this therapy may help you break through to where you want to be.
  • Psychodynamic Psychotherapy: We will use the relationship that builds between us to examine patterns that are hidden or difficult to express verbally. These patterns are often formed in the past but still function in the present. Many times these patterns cause problems because they are no longer suited to our current lives.
